Parks and Recreation Special Events

Arbor Day/Kite Fly

A family event to observe Arbor Day and celebrate the outdoors with a Kite Fly. Held in early May at Firefighters Park.

Corporate Punt, Pass and Kick Competition

Gather your co-workers in the fall and compete in the adult version of the Punt, Pass and Kick program. This lunchtime program is held in early September. Participants have one punt, one pass and one kick with scores based on distance and accuracy for the three events. Divisions offered: Men's 18, 30, 40 and 50 & over; Women's 18, 30 and 40 & over. Awards for first, second and third place in each age division and a "Corporate Challenge" trophy for the company with the most points.

Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Dance

Held annually in early February, this special night is one of our most popular special events. Designed for girls 3 and older and the "special" guy (Dad, Grandpa, Uncle..) in their life. Dancing, food, and a photo of the couple are included.

Family Festival

Scheduled the 3rd Wednesday in July at Boulan Park. This family event is a relaxing way to enjoy your summer evening. Live entertainment, puppet shows, craft tents, and more lead to an evening to enjoy with the whole family.

Fun with Santa

For youngsters ages 6 and under, with an adult, this exciting event includes: crafts, a picture with Santa, face painting, music and more. Held annually in early December.

Hershey Track and Field Games

The Hershey Track and Field Games competition is open to children ages 9 - 14 as of December 31st of the current year. Winners of the local competition qualify for the state competition in July. This program is held in early June and is free. Registration forms available at the Parks and Recreation department after April 1st.

Kids Garage Sale

Held the first Saturday in June from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Liberty Center Parking Garage (just south of the Community Center). Free. Reservations required. Kids sell or trade their toys, sporting equipment and games.

MRPA Hoops Challenge

This basketball competition held in February is for boys and girls ages 8 - 15 as of December 31 of the current year. Each player has one minute to score as many baskets as possible from any of seven shooting spots on the game court. Winners from the local competition advance to an area competition with the opportunity to move on the state finals

NFL/Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Competition

This popular football competition is held in September for youngsters ages 8-15 as of December 31 of the current year. Girls and boys compete in separate divisions. Participants have one punt, one pass and one kick with scores based on distance and accuracy for the three events. The local winner advances to a sectional competition with the sectional winner having an opportunity to advance to the state championship held at the Ford Field as part of a Lions game.

Nursery School Olympics

Held in early July at Boulan Park, this fun event will give youngsters 2-5 years old an opportunity to try their skills at the Marshmallow Shotput, Paperplate Discus, Checkerboard Penny Toss and more.

Perennial Plant Exchange

Held the third Saturday in May from 10 a.m. to noon at the Aquatic Center parking lot. Free. Reservations not required. Trade your excess plants and increase the variety on your garden.

Scrapbooking Events

One day specials for scrapbooking enthusiasts to get out of the house. Meals included.

Community Center Indoor Pool

Mother Son Pool Party (January)

Come spend an evening full of fun with your son. There will be games, tubes, a picture to remember the night and a goody bag.

Daddy Daughter Pool Party (February and October)

Come spend an evening full of fun with your daughter. There will be games, tubes, a picture to remember the night and a goody bag.

Hippity Hop Splash Bash (March or April)

The bunny visits the indoor pool and kids 12 and under get to find the hidden eggs in the pool. There is fun, games, an open swim for all and a special gift for all kids. Parents are free and must accompany kids into the pool. Parents can bring their camera and get their children's photo taken with the bunny!

Summer Celebration Week (July)

A weeklong celebration of aquatics, special activities and contests.

Halloween Afterglow (October)

The Halloween celebration continues. Kids 12 and under and their parents get to have some ghoulish fun with deck games and open swim. Each child receives a gift. Parents are free and must accompany children into the water.

Holiday Week (December)

A week of fun to celebrate the Holidays, special activities and contests.

30 Days of Fitness (March)

Swim your way to fitness. Join us this month for helpful tips and information as the entire Community Center celebrates fitness.

Noodle Day (held throughout the year)

Noodles will be out and special games planned. Fun for the entire family. Regular entry fees apply no registration required.

Family Fun Nights (held throughout the year)

Held during regular open swim for the entire family. Water games noodles and inner tubes available! The gym is also available earlier in the evening for family games and activities. Regular entry fees apply no registration required.

Free Admission Day (Friday of Memorial Day Weekend)

Join us for day of fun free of charge.

Father's Day (June)

Fathers accompanied by children over 3 will be admitted free. Regular fees apply for children.

Teen Day (June)

Teens that bring in a Troy School ID or driver's license will be admitted all day at the evening rate. Rate is determined by residency status.

Family Fun Night (June)

Games, music and noodles from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Passholders are free, evening rates apply - price based on residency status.

Jamfest (June through August)

Local teens 14 and older have the Aquatic Center all to themselves throughout the summer on Friday nights.

Back To School Special (August)

Teens that bring in a Troy School ID or driver's license will be admitted all day at the evening rate. Rate is determined by residency status.

College ID Day (June and August)

College students with a college ID will be admitted all day at the evening rate. Rate is determined by residency status.

Family Night (July)

Families will be admitted into the Aquatic Center from 5 to 7:30 pm for only $7 (up to 4 family members).
