Youth Sports
Philosophy
The Troy Parks and Recreation Department provides youth with an opportunity to learn basic sport skills, develop sportsmanship values, build self-esteem and above all have fun.
Team Formation
Teams are formed based on neighborhood and school. New teams will be formed each session.
Programs
Basketball
Youth basketball is available for boys and girls in grades 1-12. Rookie instructional program for 1-3 grades plays in the winter on Saturday at area elementary schools. League for players in grades 4-6 is held in the fall and winter, with grades 7-12 playing in the winter. Games are played on Saturdays at Troy high schools or Middle schools. All youngsters are eligible to play. (Participants playing on a school team are ineligible.)
Golf League (Junior)
This program is now being offered through Billy Casper Golf at the Troy Golf Courses www.golftroy.com
Skate Park
Troy Skate Park, located north of the Troy Community Center is a 10,000 square foot site with ramps, wedges, and rails from HUNA Designs/Woodward Ramps & Rails. All steel construction of the ramps with Skatelite Pro surface ensures the smoothest ride in the industry. There are currently 26 ramps, wedges, rails and grind boxes in the park with plans for additional obstacles as funding becomes available. The skate park is fenced and open daily from 8:00 am until sunset. Skateboards, inline skates and bikes are welcome, safety gear is strongly recommended. Restrooms, telephone, and snack shop are located nearby in the Troy Community Center.
Skiing
Youth grades 1-12 learn to ski programs are offered each winter at Mt. Holly ski area. Information in the fall brochure.
Softball (Girls)
Three programs are offered for girls in grades 3-8. Grade 3-4 play slow pitch while girls in grades 5-8 play fast pitch. The season begins in mid-June. Games are played 2-3 times a week at various ball diamond sites. Games are played during the morning and some in the evening. Season concludes by late July.
Tee Ball/Coach Pitch
This summer program is now offered through Troy Baseball Boosters, a private citizen organization www.troybb.org
Tennis
The summer program is now offered through the Troy Tennis Academy www.troytennisacademy.com . The indoor fall and winter program will continue to be offered by the Recreation Department.
Troy Sports Camp
Various youth sports camps are offered in cooperation with department and the Troy School District each summer. Look for complete details in the Spring and Summer brochure. Registration begins in late January. The following Sports Camps are offered; Athletic Trainers, Baseball, Basketball, Junior Basketball, Cheerleading, Fantasy Sports, Fast Pitch Softball, Football, Golf, Gotta Dance, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Pom Pon/Dance, Soccer, Junior Soccer, Speed, Agility and Quickness, Competitive and Synchronize Swim, Track and Field, Volleyball, Water Polo and Wrestling.

The following leagues are conducted by independent non-profit organizations, not through the Troy Parks and Recreation Department
Troy Baseball Boosters
This program is for Troy residents only, ages 5 and older. Player registration is held in January. The season begins in May and ends in late July. (248.689.6390)
Troy Youth Soccer League
The TYSL conducts fall and spring Leagues for boys and girls residing in Troy. The TYSL office is located at 1977 E. Wattles Road (248.524.0170)
Troy Youth Football:
This program is for boys and girls ages 8-13 residing in Troy. Player registration is held in March with the season beginning in late August. (313.715.8924)
