Tree City USA

The City of Troy's Municipal Forest Program began in 1969. It is estimated that over 120,000 trees have been planted in the City's rights-of-ways. From 2001 to 2009 Troy aggressively replaced trees lost to emerald ash borer. More than 20,000 ash trees were infected by the borer and had to be removed. While the planting program has been temporarily suspended, Troy's skilled and dedicated foresters continue working to maintain and improve the City's municipal forest. Troy is proud that its Municipal Forest Program improves the quality of life in our City, making it a more desirable place to live and work.

Troy has been recognized as TREE CITY USA for the sixteenth year.
