opposite, simple, 2 to 4 inches long
Leaf Color:
reddish purple in spring, bluish green in summer, apricot to yellow in fall.
Bark:
Brown, slightly reminiscent of shagbark hickory but more subdued.
Flowers:
not showy
General:
Requires ample moisture the first few years. Over all appearance is attractive. Fall colored leaves give off a spicy brown sugar smell.
