alternate, simple, 2 to 5 inches
Leaf Color:
shiny medium to dark green in summer, yellow in the fall
Bark:
ashy brown to dark orange brown with irregular fissures and scaly ridges.
Flowers:
not showy
General:
Plant male forms only (see two listed above). One of the toughest native trees, the poorer the site the better. Difficult to locate but will grow where other trees have failed.
