Leaves:
alternate, simple 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches long
Leaf Color:
medium to dark green in summer, yellow fall color. Leaves drop soon after turning yellow.
Bark:
exfoliating bark exposing inner bark which is gray-brown, salmon-brown, and reddish brown.
Flowers:
catkins 2 to 3 inches long, produces small nutlet that ripens and sheds in spring.
General:
handsome tree that will tolerate wet soils that dry in the summer. Exfoliating bark provides year round interest.
