Water and Sewer Division
The Water Division is dedicated to serving residents of the City of Troy by ensuring that the quality of the drinking water is above all standards and that water needed to fight fires is never compromised. The Sewer Division is dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient discharge of wastewater to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) waste treatment facility.
Water and Sanitary Sewer Division provides safe, clean and abundant drinking water for the residents of Troy and maintains the distribution and collection systems.

DID YOU KNOW?
- Water and Sewer Division employees handle over 6,000 water and/or sewer related inquiries annually.
- Outdoor water use is approximately 50% of the total water billed to customers in our water system.
- THe City of Troy enacted an outdoor water use ordinance for the purpose of shifting heavy use from automated underground irrigation systems to non-peak hours. This has resulted in a successful shift of peak water usage from 7AM to 4AM for 2 consecutive years, which positively affects our water rate.
- Water consumption (system-wide) declined considerably due to economic concerns.
