The Real Estate and Development Department's mission is creation of an environment that actively encourages business retention and growth through public and private sector collaboration.
The Real Estate & Development Department is the result of the 1993 Troy Futures Community Report. This newly created department actively encourages business retention and growth through public and private sector collaboration.
The Real Estate side of the department consists of right-of-way and real estate acquisition, Federal Aid related relocation assistance, property management, disposal of excess properties, title protection and investigation, and asset management.
Information About Development In Troy:
The Economic Development side of the department is responsible for developing an economic development strategy (retention and attraction), and promoting and managing the economic growth of the City of Troy, with primary emphasis on nurturing the growth of private business. This service involves providing information and assistance required for a business to make a decision on expanding, improving, or locating in the City.
The department maintains contact with local businesses, industries, and developers. In order for Troy to play an appropriate role in regional economic development, the department works closely with the local, state, and federal government to ensure the completion of necessary infrastructure improvements. Finally, the department provides staff coordination for the Troy Downtown Development Authority (TDDA) to drive the implementation of the Civic Center project.
